Toyota made the Nexus 7 basis of its infotainment system – 3DNews

When it comes to the average driver, the infotainment system can be even more important than the engine. Wherein the computer rapidly, so that the owner of the car will most likely want to upgrade it sooner than think about buying a new car. In this regard, it would be nice to think about simplification automakers such updates.

Toyota decided to try to solve the problem by introducing a new infotainment system Toyota Intelligent System (TIS), which is based on the tablet Nexus 7. For development of the system automaker teamed up with ASUS and Unimax. While the system is designed only for Taiwan market – perhaps later it will appear in other countries.

TIS provides a docking station for the Nexus 7, through which the tablet will have access to all the key vehicle systems, while providing navigation, communication 4G, voice recognition, multimedia services to control the audio system. Through a special optimized for in-car control interface available Google Maps and a variety of applications.

When Nexus will expire in July 2013, ASUS will release a new compatible tablets, which can be fitted in the infotainment system. By the way, drivers can be connected to via NFC TIS smartphones or other devices for navigation and music. It is not clear when Toyota will release cars with TIS.
