Google has announced that starting from August 5, the family of Nexus devices will be updated at least once a month. This will happen on a standard wireless connection.
« Starting this week Nexus device will regularly receive OTA-updates every month with an emphasis on safety as well as the usual Platform Update », – says the official blog Google.
This applies to smart phones and tablet Nexus with the following serial numbers: 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, and Nexus Player. Updates will be published through the project Android Open Source Project.
As before, the device will be supported by not less than two years after the release, and security updates will be sent not less than three years (or within 18 months after the last sale of the device through the Google Store).
The blog also highlights the security situation in the whole Android. For example, less than 0.15% of all devices using only the applications Google Play, have on board any malicious software. Google also notes that the last three years, manufacturers of Android-devices receive newsletter every month security issues, and researchers can receive rewards for vulnerabilities found in the program Android Security Rewards Program.
