Cisco updates the three-thousandth Nexus - PC Week / RE

Cisco introduced the Nexus 3100 series switches from its product line United Fabric Data Center to build a unified network infrastructure, data center based desyatigigabitnogo Ethernet. The switches are designed to be placed in the top of the server rack (ToR, Top-of-Rack) and will replace issued in March 2011, Nexus 3000 devices.

While

Nexus 3100 Series consists of two models odnoyunitovyh, which compared to its predecessors indicators improved port density, scalability and energy efficiency, and reduced latency of packets transmitted. Nexus 3172PQ, desyatigigabitnymi equipped with 48 SFP + ports and six ports sorokogigabitnymi QSFP +, provides a throughput of up to 1.4 Tb / s switching to the second and third level, and Nexus 3132Q 32 sorokogigabitnymi port QSFP + – up to 2.5 Tb / s. Both switches are capable of handling up to 900 million packets / sec. While Cisco has not provided information about the minimum delay Nexus 3100.

Each QSFP + port in the new Nexus can operate as four independent desyatigigabitnyh port. To protect against hardware failure in the switches used in hot-swappable redundant power supplies and fans.

Both switches use an operating system of Cisco NX-OS, the platform supports Cisco Open Network Environment (ONE) for the construction of software-controlled network (SDN), and the proprietary tools and onePK protocol OpenFlow SDN. According to the corporation, these functions implement flexible management of network load, high availability network services and advanced monitoring traffic. The concept provides for the transfer of SDN from hardware to software level features intelligent network management that uprooftn scaling, fault tolerance and administration.

In the U.S., Nexus 3172PQ will cost about 30 thousand dollars / and Nexus 3132Q – $ 50K
