Google Nexus tablet 9 responds poorly to repair – 3DNews

Craftsmen iFixit have studied a set of electronic components and design features of the tablet Google Nexus 9, built on a hardware platform NVIDIA Tegra K1.

Recall that the mini-computer, introduced in mid-October, equipped with a 8.9-inch screen with a resolution of 2048 × 1536 pixels, 2 GB of RAM, a flash unit with a capacity of 32/64 GB, Camera with 1.6- and 8-megapixel sensor, the module Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1 and NFC, GPS receiver and a set of sensors.

An autopsy showed that a Nexus tablet 9 used processor Tegra K1 Denver designation T4K885 01P TD590D-A3. Developers chose RAM chips Elpida / Micron Technology FA164A2MA and flash memory Samsung KLMAG2GEAC eMMC NAND. Other components include a combined module Broadcom BCM4354XKUBG MIMO 5G Wi-Fi 802.11ac / Bluetooth 4.0 / FM, Touch Screen Controller Synaptics S7504B 43,210,570 and battery capacity of 6700 mAh.

Maintainability computer evaluated only three points out of ten possible (by iFixit-scale). The main advantage of the simplicity of the design is called opening the back cover of the device, which is attached to clips. Furthermore, no no easy access to the battery, but it is fixed by means of glue.

High complexity same repair due to a large number of thin cables or the adhesive. The display is not only conjugate with protective glass, but also glued to the body frame, which greatly increases the cost of replacement components.
