Users who want to get right to the root-user devices series Nexus running Android 5.0 Lollipop will appear soon at least a few ways to do this, one of which was the utility Nexus Root Toolkit. It allows you to carry out the whole process in the one program that is focused on the command line or a separate search for necessary files.
In the window you need to select the correct device, install the drivers, if you wish to keep a backup of important data, unlock the bootloader and, finally, to get root-access.
The utility Nexus Root Toolkit allows you to set an alternate Recovery (for example TWRP), which can greatly simplify the backup or restore the system image, as well as the installation of new firmware or unofficial patches. If the device is unable to boot, the utility will restore the factory firmware with a special option for this.
The list of supported devices, and instructions can be found on the page of the project.
